Bitbrand — Mobile App (React Native) + Watch App (Swift)
Cross-platform product built with React Native and a native Apple Watch companion. Includes real-time dashboards, creator tools, and a seamless multi-device experience.
Apple Watch apps are their own discipline: tiny screens, glanceable interactions, strict battery budgets and a review process that is less forgiving than iPhone. It is also where I have the most experience. I have published 15 standalone Watch apps on the App Store, across sport, music, fitness and games, and I build companion Watch apps for client products too.

Yes. Since watchOS 6, apps can be standalone: installed, bought and used on the Watch alone. Most of my own apps work this way. An iPhone is only needed once, to set up the Watch.
No. A standalone Watch app can be published on its own. If you already have an iPhone app, a companion Watch app is often the fastest way to add value for existing users.
Interactions last seconds, the screen is tiny, and battery and background time are tightly limited. Designs that work on iPhone usually fail on the wrist, so the Watch app needs its own design rather than a shrunk copy.
Yes. The Watch app is written natively in Swift and talks to your React Native iPhone app through WatchConnectivity. I built exactly this for Bitbrand.
On real devices, across sizes and watchOS versions. The simulator does not reproduce haptics, sensors, battery or real-world timing, so it is only a starting point.
